Two members of the New Albany High School Girls Powerlifting team
competed in the State Powerlifting Meet on Saturday, April 4th. Kierra
Clay (left) finished 3rd in her class, won a Bronze Medal, and set
a state record in the bench press event with a weight of 135 pounds
lifted. Martia Potts (right) competed and finished 6th in her class.

The New Albany Boys Powerlifting Team guys competed in the North
Half Powerlifting Meet at Itawamba on Friday, March 6.
The following lifters placed (above):
Jerry Davis - 114 Weight Class- 507 Total Pounds- 5th Place
Cade Simmons -275 Weight Class- 1,180 Total Pounds- 6th Place
Wade Simmons 308 Weight Class- 1,375 Total Pounds-4th Place
Trent Fryar 308+ Weight Class- 1,220 Total Pounds- 4th Place

New Albany High School had two lifters to place in the top three
in their respective categories at the Girls North Half Powerlifting
Meet. This qualifys them for the State Meet in Jackson on April 3-4.

The New Albany girls powerlifting team placed 3rd overall in the
Oxford Invitational on January 30. There were 5 individuals who
placed.
Kierra Clay placed 1st in the 148 weight class
Markia Potts placed 2nd in the 220+ weight class
Martia Potts placed 3rd in the 220+ weight class
Laquinta Jones placed 3rd in the 220 weight class
Sarah Manning placed 3rd in the 123 weight class
